Chipping Golf

Tips you have to Use

Whenever you’re looking for chipping golf tips, it can be quite confusing. It’s one of the most difficult parts of the game to master, and there tons of so-called “secrets” that really don’t work. What you have to understand is what works for you may not work for your friend, so it’s important to find the right tips.

Today, we’re going to go over a few of them in hopes of pointing you in the right direction. If you’re having problems with your chipping golf game, try each one of them out. Whatever doesn’t work just throw it away and move on to the next. Eventually, you will come across the perfect match and start getting the ball closer to the hole (or in it).

Stop the Ball at the Pin

Often times, amateurs will take their chipping golf approach to the pin instead of in front of it. Your main goal here is to have the ball stop near the hole. If you’re aiming for the pin then you will most likely hit past it. The best thing to do is figure out your distance, and cut 33% off it. So if you’re 30 feet away, try to make the ball drop about 10 feet from the hole.

Look at your Wrists

It might be surprising to some, but many golfers understand the importance of their wrists. On a chip shot, you’re supposed to keep your left hand straight for righties and vice versa for lefties. If you don’t, the loft on the ball will be completely different from what you are expecting. This usually results in a longer putt.

Use the right Club

One thing to understand is you can’t just chip with your 9-iron or P-wedge all of the time. You probably already know there is a science to this sport, and the chipping part is no different. Each iron you use brings about certain advantages and disadvantages. Some will give you more loft, some will run and stop, so it’s extremely important to be well versed for each situation.

Get in the Practice

In the end, it’s all about practice. The more you can get out there and go through each routine, the better it will feel and work for you on the course. However, you have to make sure you practicing the right chipping golf techniques. If you end up doing something wrong, it’s possible that you will end up regressing as a result.

Try a few of these and see what happens. If you aren’t progressing, it might be time to ask a professional for help.
