Posture is important in golf and fundamental thing you must master. Your body movements will carry through to the club and the ball. If you are standing wrong or you move your arm the wrong way then you will mess up the whole swing. This is something that you will need to practice quite a bit. You may want to video tape yourself swinging the club, so you can see how you are moving your body and what you need to work on.
As you work further with your instructor learning how to swing a golf club you will address things like making contact with the ball and follow through. When you make contact with the ball your club should be square and your body aligned with the target. A slight tilt to your club or your body may send the ball sailing off in the wrong direction. As for follow through, this involves swinging the club completely through after hit the ball. Don’t stop the swing when you make contact with the ball. This stops the momentum and affects the ball’s travel.
As you work with your instructor you are sure to get a lot of great advice and instruction, but it is only going to be helpful to you if you put it to use. You can’t learn how to swing a golf club by just listening and watching others. You have to do it yourself. You will start to see how everything comes together to enable you to have an amazing golf swing. Just remember that the perfect shot is not about what you know, but how you execute what you know. If you can’t follow through and put what you have learned into practice then your golf instruction was for nothing.
It is only after learning the fundamentals and getting in practice that you will start to see how to swing a golf club like a pro. You will begin to understand how the pros make it seem effortless and how they get such accuracy, speed and distance on their shots. In no time you will be the envy of other golfers as you show off what you have learned with your new golf swing.
