Outside of 3-putting, trying to cure a slice is probably the most irritating thing in golf. People tell you to fix your grip, but you still slice. They tell you to change stances, you still slice. You go out, purchase new clubs, new golf balls, and after all of it, you still slice. However, there are ways to control that golf swing slice.

One thing you have to understand is when you’re told how to fix a golf swing slice; it might not be your best choice. There are tons of different ways to do this, and what works for one person, may not work for another. So today, instead of saying, “This is what you NEED to do,” we’re going to give you some choices that might help.

Take a Look at your Grip

Even though everyone has a different grip, it is a great place to start if you want to correct your golf swing slice. When you’re at the driving range, don’t be afraid to play around with your grip. Sometimes the slightest adjustment can make all the difference. It’s possible that your golf swing slice is occurring because your grip is positioned too far to the left.

Getting a Handle on your Stance

One of the funniest things to see when you’re out golfing with buddies is each individual stance. Have you ever seen someone aim way to the left (sometimes in o.b. territory), yet the hole is straight ahead. While you have to give these men and women credit for making an adjustment, they’re losing out on all kinds of distance and better accuracy.

The best way to see this is by either having someone film you, or checking it out in a mirror. While the usual setup is to make sure your shoulders are aligned with your feet (which are spread apart about the same length), there is a chance it won’t work for you. We all have different sizes, flexibility, and height variations. So you may have to come up with your own solution.

Check the Elbow

Another possible reason you have a golf swing slice may be because of your elbow. To be honest, keeping that elbow tucked can feel extremely uncomfortable, but it does make a difference in where your club impacts the ball. We understand this won’t be the issue for everyone, but if your grip and stance seem to be okay, we recommend looking here.

What it comes down to is there are all kinds of ways to fix that golf swing slice. The only problem is you have to go through a trial and error process to figure out the problem. We recommend doing this long before you hit the course. Go practice at the range, purchase some golf waffle balls, and try it in your backyards.

However, after watching Jim Furyk’s swing for years, it’s possible you may just need an unorthodox approach. Unfortunately you won’t know until you get out there and work on your golf swing slice.
