The Basic Starting Point: Golf Tips for Beginner Players

golf instruction

Helpful golf tips for beginner players certainly can enhance a newbie’s ability to perform well on the green. That’s why mostly all those just starting with the game of golf will look towards picking up a few of those helpful beginner tips.

While there is certainly nothing wrong with seeking out a number of tips, you do not want to become overwhelmed with tips. What does that mean? Basically, it means that too many tips presented too soon and from too many perspectives can lead to a lot of confusion. Yes, there comes a point where you need to narrow down beginner tips to the most important basic ones.

So, let’s start at the beginning….

That means stripping down an intro to golf to its pure basics. The place to start with golf would be increasing your cardio conditioning so you are in the right shape to play. While commonly overlooked when listing golf tips for beginner students, getting in decent cardio shape is a must for success.

Of course, in order to play, you will need a solid set of clubs. Look towards purchasing the best possible clubs for your needs, budget, and experience level. Once you have the right clubs, you are on your way to maximizing your potential on the green.

Now, it is time to move on to the mechanics of the game.

Prior to reaching the green, you need to learn the proper way to perform a golf swing. No golf tips for beginner students would be helpful if they did not include the basics of the swing. This really does have to be the area you concentrate on the most at the beginning since you cannot have a good golf game without a good swing.

The next highly important area to consider revolves around the proper golf posture. Simply put, your body’s structure will play a large role in how successful your swing is. A properly aligned body is one that can swing with great effectiveness. Conversely, improper or weak alignment in structure will lead to swings that do not drive the ball with great distance or accuracy. Outcomes such as that are to be avoided at all costs.

There is also a “subset” of sorts to the concept of body structure and alignment. This would be the notion of proper head and shoulders alignment. Among the best golf tips for beginner players would be to get these portions of the upper body in order so as to maximize swing accuracy and distance.

Most golf swing tips (and all golf tips in general) will revolve around alignment and structure. Once you get these very simple and basic points down, you may deviate from the established structure and create your own unique posture. But, during the early learning stages, you will need to stick with the basic structure since this will be the best to commence with from a beginner’s perspective. Remember, when you start from the appropriate beginner point, you are setting the stage for advanced learning in the future.

Learning the One Plane Golf Swing

Are you interested in learning the one plane golf swing? Learning this unique swing is definitely well advised since it could prove to be the perfect way to bring your golf game to the next level. This is true of both beginner players and those that have been in the game for a long time. Yes, this swing really is that important!

The game of golf is an ever evolving one and if you wish to become a seasoned and talented player, it is well advised you stay current on the top trends in the game. Of course, it would also be to your benefit to develop solid skill in the well established basics that are the linchpin of so many talented golfer’s games.

Again, the one plane golf swing is one of those basic swings you will find a helpful inclusion to your golf repertoire.

As the name implies, this is a swing that entails both the arms and the shoulders moving along a single swing plane. The purpose of such a swing is to cut down on the number of errors which can impede motion. When the swing operates on two planes, movement could potentially lack consistency which opens the door for the aforementioned movement errors. And no, such errors do not even need to be very pronounced. Even a light problem with one’s movement could yield disastrous results such as a slice, landing in a sandtrap, and the like. When you hit the ball on the tee, you want to hit it with the appropriate level of accuracy, impact, and angle. A swing on a single plane helps you achieve such an end.

In order to develop the swing, you will need to practice it while performing the appropriate posture. The posture you would need to maintain is not anything magical or over the top. Rather, you would be performing your swings with your back forward at the waist while also somewhat tilted backwards. The positioning of your feet is also important and they will need to be slightly wider than your shoulders. The front foot needs to be slightly (about two inches) ahead of the rear foot. The positioning of the feet should be parallel and your weight needs to be evenly distributed. This latter point is important to adhere to because when your weight shifts unnecessarily you will have a very hard time hitting the ball on the one plane. Shifting would slightly (or significantly for that matter) alter your position so that you are on a completely different plane.

It is well advised to practice swinging in the air and not hitting the ball on the tee at first. This way, you can practice the motions without impact which helps you correct postural flaws. Upon making the needed corrections, you can perform your one plane golf swing on the tee and see how it works for you.

More than likely, it will work out for the best!

Crafting The Simple Golf Swing

Simple Golf Swing

Developing a simple golf swing will take a bit of effort. Now, this is not to say it is supremely difficult to develop a solid golf swing. It can be done but it requires proper effect and a strong desire to learn. This will lead to the very obvious question of how you can devise a quality golf swing.

The answer is not one that is magical. All you need to do is follow a few basic steps derived from quality golf instruction. Here is a look at the simple golf swing broken down into a few basic points:

A golf swing such as this is one that entails using your spine in a highly stable manner for the purpose of using it as an axis. This will ensure that your swing stays on a plane that will ensure you swing is connected to the aforementioned stable spine. This will work wonders towards improving how your swing is performed.

How do we know this is the right way to perform a golf swing? From the inverse perspective, we need to look at the flawed performance many people are prone to make. Namely, they will swing without maintaining a stable spine. Those that have very high handicaps will commonly present such a problem. This is not a minor problem. When you swing without a stable spine, you embody a host of unnecessary movements. Unnecessary movements do not help your golf game in any way shape or form. A swing becomes quite unstable and also has the potential to be highly inaccurate when the spine is not stable. Part of the reason for this is that the hips lose much of their rotational ability. When you learn to swing with limited hip rotation, the ability to hit the ball with any power or distance will be enhanced.

Here is a secret that those in the know realize: when you coil your swing around a stable spine and limited hip rotation, you increase your power significantly. This is the core concept of the simple golf swing and a major component to effective golf instruction.

Why is limited hip rotation so helpful? It yields a number of benefits. Among the many benefits would be the elimination of having to swing the club very far. You willing find your backswing only needs to follow a shortened path. The coiling will deliver much of the power and you need use too much distance to gain such power.

In some instances, there is too much emphasis on deep swings. This is not to say all deep swings are bad. They have value in many ways. However, the simple golf swing shows that you do not necessarily have to use huge windups. There are other swing mechanics that can deliver excellent results. The simple golf swing would be a common example of this.

Of course, you will also need to put in a lot of practice to ensure the end result is one that is acceptable. The end result here would be a swing that helps you on the green tremendously.

For those who are having difficulty and are looking for information on how to improve your golf swing, consider how a few golf instruction myths could potentially be ruining your swing – specifically:

I. Look Toward the Ground

a. Many instructors often tell people to keep their head down while swinging. However, if you want to learn how to improve your golf swing, you will have to look past this and start letting your head move.

b. While making your golf swing, keep your eyes fixed on the ball and your head up. By doing this, you make it so that your neck lines up with your spine

II. Straighten your Left arm

a. Hitting with a straight left arm often causes people to have problems with a reverse pivot

b. When the left arm is too rigid, then it becomes harder to shift your weight

c. When you allow your left arm to bend, then it becomes easier for you to add power to your swing. This results from allowing your body to become more fluid with your body rotating.

III. Don’t lift your left heel

a. In order to keep your left heel down, you need to be quite flexible. Most people are not this flexible and usually have problems with a reverse pivot as a result.

b. Allowing the left heel to life in a natural manner will help you to shift your weight more efficiently

IV. Keep your right arm tucked in

a. If you swing with your right arm tucked in then you make it harder for you to swing down and follow through

b. Allowing your right arm to drift away from your body during your downswing can help to reduce problems with over-rotating your body, in addition to coming over the top of the ball.

V. While putting, keep your head down

a. During the time you are putting, it is never a good idea to keep your head down through your put. Putting your head down through the swing hampers the body’s ability to flow through the stoke.

b. Allowing the head to rotate along with the swing will help it so that the forward stroke becomes more natural.

When you are trying to learn how to improve your golf swing, it is important to practice and address the myths that are causing you to have a bad game. Otherwise, it will remain difficult to better your game. Keep in mind, time and dedication will help you to improve over time.

Alignment is a Key Factor to Improve a Golf Swing

Improve Golf Swing Accuracy

It is really a primary concept to improve golf swing accuracy and effect. Concentrate on alignment. Too often, shot after shot reveals different alignment. This lack of consistency always results in problems with many golf shots. One cause is the fact golfers often take for granted that tee boxes are lined up properly with the spot down the course where you believe the ball should go. Unfortunately, a golfer will then line up the feet and shoulders with the tee markers but the place where the ball flies is not where it is wanted to go. This is but one problem that good golf instruction should address.

Hitting that Slice Off the Tee?

How many times has a golfer suffered embarrassment and humiliation hitting a wild slice off the tee? In order to improve golf swing accuracy, there are a number of golf instruction tips to follow including:

  • Golf Grip – Most slices are due to a weak grip that produces a wide-open clubface at impact causing the ball to slice when it is hit. Try tightening the grip which will make hitting a slice almost impossible. In fact, a too-tight grip used to improve golf swing accuracy may result in hitting a hook if the grip is overcompensated.
  • Takeaway – A slice will also occur when a golfer takes the club away from the body. This produces a disconnected swing. The result is a downswing that comes from over the top contributing to the ball slicing at impact.
  • Ball Impact – Slicing is caused by the clubface being open at impact or coming across the ball creating a spin sending it in the wrong direction. To improve golf swing accuracy, hit the ball more from the inside with the clubface slightly shut.
  • Over the Top Downswing – This is one of the most common reasons a golfer produces a swing resulting in a slice. This is because a golfer starts the shoulders first when going into the downswing. This puts the awing way out ahead of the lower body. This positioning makes it impossible to swing from the inside. When a player is constantly hitting a slice, to improve golf swing accuracy it is necessary to hit from the inside.

Proper Golf Instruction Cures Slices

Unfortunately, many golfers slicing the ball never do anything about it, even though as simple a fix as grip strength may be the cure. Instead, many players believe they have no choice and just accept their slice as part of playing the game, although it becomes worse and there is no enjoyment when playing. It comes down to making a choice for where a golfer wants to invest playing money. Any golfer can keep spending tons of money on greens fees continuing to produce an even worse slice or divert some of that investment to good golf instruction.

If you really want to improve your golf swing, you should subscribe to our tips letter. You’ll be amazed to find out that golf CAN be a simple game, and that YOU CAN significantly drop your handicap in just one short week.

Tips For A Proper Golf Swing

proper golf swing

In order to obtain the lowest score possible, you must have a proper golf swing. This means that every aspect of your swing needs to be in line. If any component is not performed correctly, your ball is likely to never end up where you want it to go. The three main areas of a golf swing are the back swing, down swing, and follow through. It may sound easy to have a good swing since there are only three aspects, but it can be a little more difficult than you think.

It is vital that you understand that no two players will ever have the same golf swing. There are small adjustments that golfers make that can set their style apart from everyone else’s. Though you can get customized golf instruction to help you learn the proper golf swing, you can not completely replicate your instructor’s actions. This is true even if the two of you are similar in body size, shape, or type. It is just not possible to duplicate another golfer’s exact movements. Therefore, it is important that you work toward finding the appropriate swing for yourself.

Prepare Your Swing-Master the Setup

  • Before you begin your golf swing, take your time to observe the hole and the direction in which you should hit the ball. Take the wind into consideration as well, as it can have an effect on how the ball will travel. Line the club head with the ball so that it will send the ball on the appropriate course. When you are ready for the back swing, draw the club back behind your shoulder while drawing in a deep breath. Be sure to keep the opposite elbow perfectly straight so that your club goes back the way it should.

The Downswing

  • As you are coming into the down swing, your lower body should move first instead of your shoulders. Exhale the breath you took in as you come down with the club. Roll the opposite arm in a clockwise fashion to keep the club coming down as it should. As it comes down, you will want to turn your hips toward your intended target as sharply and quickly as possible. As the club head makes contact with the ball, the down swing ends and you will go into the follow through.

Follow Through-The Key For A Proper Golf Swing

  • For a proper golf swing, you must be sure to follow through with the club rather than stop it the moment you hit the ball. This will enable you to continue the right movements so that the ball travels precisely where you want it to. The club should end up over the opposite shoulder, with your shoulders being perpendicular to your intended target. As you can see, establishing the proper golf swing can sound quite difficult. Once you begin to practice the different components of the swing, you will see that they all fall in line together. The right golf instruction will allow you to see where you are performing incorrectly so that you can fix that area and have a good golf swing as you get better at the game.

How To Swing A Golf Club

how to swing a golf clubWhen learning how to swing a golf club you have to realize that it all boils down to execution. Your golf instructor can teach you what to do, but it is up to you to actually follow through and do it. No amount of golf instruction will make your golf swing good. It is all in how well you execute the techniques that have been taught to you.

How To Swing The Golf Club-The Fundamentals

It is essential that you listen carefully to the instructor. You have to be careful and pay attention so that you can get the information you need to actually follow through with what you have learned.

  • The Posture

Posture is important in golf and fundamental thing you must master. Your body movements will carry through to the club and the ball. If you are standing wrong or you move your arm the wrong way then you will mess up the whole swing. This is something that you will need to practice quite a bit. You may want to video tape yourself swinging the club, so you can see how you are moving your body and what you need to work on.

  • Contact with the ball and follow through

As you work further with your instructor learning how to swing a golf club you will address things like making contact with the ball and follow through. When you make contact with the ball your club should be square and your body aligned with the target. A slight tilt to your club or your body may send the ball sailing off in the wrong direction. As for follow through, this involves swinging the club completely through after hit the ball. Don’t stop the swing when you make contact with the ball. This stops the momentum and affects the ball’s travel.

  • Practice,practice,practice!

As you work with your instructor you are sure to get a lot of great advice and instruction, but it is only going to be helpful to you if you put it to use. You can’t learn how to swing a golf club by just listening and watching others. You have to do it yourself. In the beginning you will make mistakes and you may not be very good, but that is how everyone starts out. As you practice you will get better. You will start to see how everything comes together to enable you to have an amazing golf swing. Just remember that the perfect shot is not about what you know, but how you execute what you know. If you can’t follow through and put what you have learned into practice then your golf instruction was for nothing.

It is only after learning the fundamentals and getting in practice that you will start to see how to swing a golf club like a pro. You will begin to understand how the pros make it seem effortless and how they get such accuracy, speed and distance on their shots. In no time you will be the envy of other golfers as you show off what you have learned with your new golf swing.

Tips For Getting A Natural Golf Swing

natural golf swing

When it comes to the game of golf, the establishment of a consistent and natural golf swing is important. For some, learning the golf swing technique is a breeze. On occasion, some golfers need nothing more than two weeks of golf lessons in order to master the golf swing. On the other hand, some golfers experience a large amount of difficulty with grasping the fundamentals involved with making a golf swing. Regardless, most find that hard work and dedication to practicing daily eventually leads to their golf swing becoming more natural.

In general, the golf swing consists of a circular motion around the body. Although, a golf balls hit from the ground and the club travels according to a tilted plane the motions very similar to batting. Overall, the golf swing entails two distinct phases. These phases consist of the pre-swing and in-swing. The pre-swing phase consists primarily of the time preparing before playing.

Preparation usually includes a pre-shot routine, in addition to addressing the ball. On the other hand, the in-swing phase corresponds to when you are actually swinging the golf club. Throughout this time, the swing should consist of a smooth and fluid motion. Furthermore, the swing consists of a sequence of smaller components. Generally, this refers to the address, takeaway, change of direction, down swing, as well as the finish, otherwise known by the follow through.

Generally, combining the sequence of movements poses a challenge for beginning golfers and in some cases becomes a skill never mastered by those more experienced. However, learning the fundamentals of a natural golf swing will help you to lower your score. Some of the best ways to improve the ease found with making your golf swing involves:

Proper Grip Mechanics

For the most part, gripping the golf club improperly or choosing the wrong type of golf club can decrease the consistency and accuracy of your swing. Furthermore, gripping the golf club too tight or loose will likely cause the ball to go in a direction you never intended. Therefore, proper grip and the overall feeling of the golf clubs important. Ultimately, this will help you to improve on your natural golf swing.

Primarily, this has to do with how they help you to get into the groove, while additionally increasing the amount of confidence you have with each swing.

Clubface & Body Alignment

Aligning your body and clubface consists of another important factor in relation to making accurate shots. While addressing your body, the golf club and your arms should form a shape similar to a triangle. Essentially, proper alignment will help you to increase the number of good shots you make.

Full Swing

Following your alignment preparations, you are now ready to swing. While swinging, make sure the trunk of your body only moves the club forward and backward. On the other hand, your arms should move the club up and down. Therefore, it is important to ensure that you hands and arms stay in front of your torso throughout the time of swinging.

During the backswing, your weight should shift fluidly from your right to left knee. By doing this, you will cause club head lag with your wrists. Furthermore, it will cause you to have a more natural golf swing with a punch.

Tips To Improve Golf Swing Mechanics

golf lessons

Generally, people starting as a beginner in golf receive the proper golf instruction on golf swing mechanics. However, begin to forget the fundamentals making a golf swing over time. On the other hand, some people stop paying attention to accuracy in favor of speed. Although speed remains important, it never holds the same degree of importance as accuracy in the game of golf. Ultimately, the key to improving your performance relates to mastery of your golf swing.

Golf Swing Basics-Tips To Improve Your Swing

golf swing basicsHow a person swings remains one of the most important fundamentals of golf swing basics. Essentially, it is important to understand and practice the information learned during golf  lessons. Doing so will help you to grasp the essentials, in addition to maintaining the necessary techniques critical in establishing a solid foundation.

Many times, one of the largest problems with experienced players is how they move away from the basics. In some cases, this has to do with them forgetting the fundamentals over time. Often, this tends to add to the amount of complexity with their playing, in addition to creating other problems. Ultimately, consistency is key.

Another consideration has to do with how each golfer differs in regards to their body. Therefore, the techniques should accommodate the golfer’s differences when teaching them the golf swing basics. Overall, there are some essential techniques to keep in mind in order to improve your swing.

Basics Of The Golf Swing-5 Fundamentals Tips

  • Golf Swing Basics-Tip #1:Tee box Setup,It’s Everything

This should include your mental focus going into the tee box. Therefore, you should not worry about what may potentially happen. Instead, concentrate on hitting the ball down the fairway. While you are doing this, you should have your feet shoulders width apart.

In addition, your ball should be 2 inches from your left heel. Furthermore, make sure to have your shoulders lined or slightly to the left of the target line (this can make or break a shot). In the meantime, you should have yourself slightly bent over in a relaxed posture over the ball.

  • Tip #2-Grip: Just Right

When you are making a shot, you do not want your grip too tight or too loose. Instead, you want your grip right in the middle so that it is comfortable. Otherwise you are setting yourself up for a hook when you’re gripping too tight or a potential slice when you are not holding the club tight enough.

  • Tip #3-Backswing: Build Momentum

One of the most important golf swing basics of a backswing is making sure that you start the swing correctly. One way to do this involves starting by raising the club in a swift and even motion. Throughout this time, it is important to make sure that you are letting your arms do the work instead of your hands. In response, you will find that you will have more control in your downswing.

  • Tip #4-Downswing: Swiftly Release

This part of the swing happens from the momentum that you create from the club. Therefore, it’s essential that you make sure that your swing remains fluid and consistent. Essentially, you should try to have your downswing come down faster than your backswing. Never should you slow down at the time of your downswing, since this is the time you can make up for any mistakes made in the backswing.

  • Tip #5-Impact: Admire Your Work

Overall, it is important to remember the importance of keeping your eye on the ball. Although this may seem like common sense, some forget this as one of the essential golf swing basics. In addition, keep in mind how different clubs require a different kind of approach as well.

Golf Swing Speed-How To Finally Get It Right

golf swing speedGolf swing speed is something that beginner golfers often find very frustrating to master. After a few swings, it quickly becomes apparent that the way to get your swing speed does not necessarily mean swinging the club harder. In fact, the harder you swing a golf club without adhering to certain core swing techniques, the shorter your drive becomes.

First you must achieve stability in your swing. This is precisely why the hard swing will do your drive more harm than good. A hard swing with no technique eliminates stability anyone of a number of ways. For instance, it is hard to retain your posture when you put too much effort in the swing.

Also, there is a high possibility that your club face will not strike the ball as desired. Whereas power in your swing is important, the point of focus and release of the swing energy and speed should be the club head. In other words, the speed of the club head is far more important than your swing speed.

Take time to get the swing technique right not paying too much attention to how fast you actually swing the club. Good golfing technique makes use of the stored and kinetic energy from different parts of the golfer’s body and transfers it to the club head as the club eventually strikes the ball.

The perfect analogy for a good golf swing is the unwinding coil concept. Getting good rotation on your trunk, legs and hips is key to an effective swing. Though the swing may look slower than performing a simple hard club swing, more power is in fact released to the ball during the motion.

Another important aspect of better golf swing speed is acceleration. Your swing should increase in speed and peak just as you strike the ball. If your swing loses acceleration as it is on the decent, much less power will be delivered to the ball. This requires practice for one to perfect but once you master it, should be fairly easy to do each time.

With golf sometimes portrayed as a sport for rich people and business executives just out to relax, many budding golfers have taken on the incorrect assumption that physical fitness is not that important for golf. On the contrary, the fitter you are the better your golf swing speed is likely to be.

Of particular interest are the muscles around your core (or trunk). These are the ones that are most beneficial for maintaining a steady posture as you swing the club. Incorporate a number of rotational exercises in your fitness routine to ensure these muscles are firmed up.

Last, a number of golf lessons (and golf professionals too such as Vijay Singh) recommend the use of heavier golf clubs. The heavier the golf club, the more control you have over your golf speed. A heavy golf club also provides greater momentum than a lighter one.

Golf Swing Instruction- From Impact To Finish

golf swing instructionWhen you are learning about golf swing instruction, there are some essentials for you to know. One of the most important things has to do with the type of motion you are using within your swing. Essentially, your motion should consist of one that is fluid throughout the swing. Therefore, you should not slow your swing or stop at any point during the time that you are hitting.

One of the main reasons for this has to with the very moment you have impact, until the time you finish through, which accounts for 95% of the overall result. Most of the time, if you have the right position when you are doing your backswing, you are going to increase your chances of taking a good shot. In order to help you have the most success with your golf swing instruction, below is further detailed information on the process, which occurs during the time, you are taking your swing.

During the time that you are making your swing, there are two things, which affect the overall result. The first part has to do with your club position, while the second part has a lot to do with the body.

  • Golf Swing Essentials #1-The Golf Club

During the time you are making impact, it is imperative to ensure that the clubface is one to two degrees closed. This means, that while you are practicing what you learned from your golf swing instruction, the clubface should start square ad you are positioning yourself at address. As you start to swing back the clubface should roll open and then back to square as you make impact with the clubface.

Club Face 2 Degree Closed

During the time you are on the down part of your swing, your clubface will continue to close and will remain on this trend until you have the toe pointing up in addition to having the shaft pointing parallel to the target line. Therefore, it is important to emphasize how the clubface continues to close on the downswing, which makes your body positioning essential.

One of the largest misconceptions people have is how they think hitting the ball harder will ameliorate any problem they are having with their hitting distance. However, this is not the case. Although hitting harder could help, it does not provide the solution. Essentially, it is important to gain an understanding on the type of balance that will get you the type of results you want.

This means, the amount of speed you are using needs to be applied according to a particular way or you will not have good results. Making solid contact with the clubhead at a high speed requires a combination of things. More specifically, this has to do with the amount of control you have on getting everything to work together, which you will learn in your golf swing instruction is the timing.

  • Golf Swing Essentials #2-Your Body

During the moment of impact and time of impact, your knees should stay within the same position. In more descriptive terms, this means your knee will move away from the ball and towards the center of your stance. However, your knee will move back in th address position (as describe here).

golf swing instructions

Left Knee Returns To Address Position

When  you reach the point following impact, the club should become parallel to the ground at some point, while additionally pointing towards the target line. In addition, you should have your left hip behind you, while having the knee close to fully extend.

golf swing instructions

Right Knee is Moving Parallel

Meanwhile your right knees should be passed the location where you had hit the ball. This type of golf instruction swing will give you the most amount of speed as you become more familiar with it. Ultimately, you should aim to have the golf club go through the 9:00 position, since the upper body is more prone to straightening itself out. Overall, you should always makes sure that anytime following the moment of impact that your belt continues to remain level to the ground. Essentially, when you have the right type of golf swing instruction, all of it should become easier over time.

Golf Swing Tips That Will Change Your Game Forever

If you want to make sure that you are truly improving your game, you will want to pay attention to all of the golf swing tips that you come across. Do not make the mistake of thinking that just because you have been playing for years or because your family has always played that you know everything there is to know. There is always room for improvement. The moment you start forgetting that, you will find that your golf game will be affected. If that is not something that you want to have happen, then it is time to listen up.

Six Golf Swing Tips-From The address To The Follow Through

  • Golf Swing Tip #1-The Address

There are many people out there that say your stance should be where your feet are the same width apart as your shoulders are. While this can work, it may not be the best tip in the world. You actually want to have your feet just a little bit further apart than what the width of your shoulder span is. This will ensure that you have a nice solid base. It is also extremely important to make sure that your shoulders, hips, knees and chin is all in the proper alignment.

swing tips-the address

The Feet: Slighty more than shoulder width

If you start your swing without a proper base stance, nothing will go right for you. Sure, you might be able to take a swing and the ball might take off, but it will be no where near the results you truly want and can achieve by simply starting off in the right stance.

  • Swing Tip #2-The Chin

Believe it or not, there are people who still think that the chin placement is not all that important. They could not be more wrong. While it certainly is not going to be the most important tip you ever receive, it is one that you want to make sure that you are making note of. You will want to make sure that your chin is finding middle ground. Basically, you do not want your chin resting against your chest and you do not want to be facing straight out. Find the middle ground and that is where your chin should be. You can use your fist as a guide by placing it against your upper chest and allowing your chin to lightly touch it. This is approximately where your chin should be.

  • Tip #3-Your Grip Is Important

Don’t just grab the club. You have to grip it properly. You will find that a weak grip could not only affect your game, but it could send your golf club flying across the green. That is certainly not what you want to happen. You could very well yourself and your friends kicked off the course for something like that.
Take a look at the video below.

  • Tip #4-Keep The Knees Bent Just Right

Now, you are not going to bend your knees as though you are going to sit on them, but you do not want them straight and tight either. Do not lock your knees and do not fall over. You simply want to allow your knees to bend ever so slightly. This will allow you to properly to conduct your back swing and follow through.

swing tips-knees

Knees are slighty fixed

  • Tip #5-The Backswing

Out of all of the golf swing tips, this is the part that you really want to pay the most attention to. This is where a lot of golfers mess up and it costs them dearly in the game. When you first start on your backswing, you are going to want to make sure that your arms, hands, your right shoulder, the clubhead and the shaft are all moving as one single unit. Now, it is very important to realize that your hip needs to stay in place and build up resistance. Think of your body as a spring. The top half is turning and twisting, right before the release.

  • Tip #6-Follow Through

It is important to make sure that you are following through with the golf swing. Do not stop at the ball or shortly thereafter. You want to make sure that you are following it through all of the way in order to make sure that you are hitting the ball as hard as you can and also sending it in the right direction. Your follow through is sort of like extra guidance for where you want to send the ball. It is not just about what happens before you hit it, but what happens after as well.

As you can see, there are a lot of golf swing tips that you want to pay attention to. Of course, these are not all of the swing tips that you will ever come across. Whenever you are out there playing with others on the green, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open. Watch how others are playing. See what they are doing wrong and how it affects their game. Watch to see what they are doing right and how those things could help you. If there is someone there willing to offer you advice, do not be a fool and try to act as though it is not needed. Listen to all of the golf swing tips offered to you and your game will drastically improve in no time at all.

Now, you should be able to take these golf swing tips and other tips that you pick up along the way and create the best game possible for yourself. Even if some of the tips seem a little awkward at first, you will want to keep trying them and keep moving forward. After a short while, all of this will feel very natural to you and you will not be able to remember what it was like to golf without these improvements.

Great Pitching Golf  Tip  !!

Get the Most from Your Short Game

Most of us have to deal with some sort of hazard throughout a round right? Whether it’s the long grass, the bunkers, or maybe even some water, we rely on our pitching golf game to overcome each one. Unfortunately many individuals lose a tremendous amount of strokes in this area thanks to a lack of knowledge. Today we’re going to change all of it.

The Clubs

When you need to produce a good pitching golf shot, it will depend on the length of point A to point B. There are several types of lofty clubs out there ranging from a pitching wedge, sand wedge, loft wedges, and several others. Obviously the one you choose will heavily depend on the obstacle in front of you, and whether or not the ball needs to be placed on the green.

For instance; it’s possible that your pitching golf game will require you to hit the left side of the green while coming in high so the ball doesn’t move much after impact. This alleviates the slopes in the surrounding areas. Then again, you may need a good pitch and release to hit over a bunker and bounce before slowly releasing to the hole.

In each case you need to have a particular swing, and most likely use different clubs. Then of course if you’re trying to get over a tree to the green from a farther distance you will need a longer club. Just understanding all the issues about your pitching golf game will allow you to get the most out of it.

Sculling Issues

One of the biggest pitching golf mistakes is sculling the ball on impact. This is basically where you come over top the ball and end up hitting some sort of line drive up the course. It’s definitely one of the most frustrating problems golfers deal with on the course. What once looked like a par can turn into a snowman in the blink of an eye.

How do you fix an issue like sculling? Most of the time you just have to stay down on the ball. This problem usually occurs when a person tries to help loft the ball by lifting their body. If this happens you will either hit the ball with the bottom of the club in the middle, or just on top. The end result might even be a little dribbler a few yards away.

It’s also possible that you are pulling your head in the process. The next time you watch your friends while playing a round, check to see if they look at the hole in the middle of their downswing. This often causes a mis-hit, and while it may not scull across the green, it definitely won’t go where you want it to go.

In the end pitching golf is a very helpful tool to lower your score. If done correctly you will be able to move the ball closer to the hole, which translates in shorter putts. Then again, we know lots of people who have problems in this area as well, but that’s for another day.

How to Deal with These Golfing Woes

One of the most embarrassing parts to playing the game of golf is the golf shank. It’s also frustrating when you spend hours on the range, and then head to the course only to have a golf shank or two surface during your round. The good news is it’s usually only a minor altercation in your swing that is causing this issue. Then of course maybe a little mental thought problem as well.

What is a Golf Shank?

The easiest way to explain without going into all the technicalities is you sharply hit the ball to the left or right. It is sent through with a low trajectory and basically looks like you’ve swung your golf club for the very first time. The reason it occurs is because you aren’t hitting the ball with your club face. Instead you are hitting it with the thin area that connects the shaft to the club-head.

The Common Causes

Even though hitting in that particular area usually is the reason the ball travels in either direction, your swing is the main culprit. A golf shank can develop for several different reasons. You may be too far away when addressing the ball, you could be extending the club away from the body during the downswing, or even have an outside-in movement that is creating the issue.

Then again, after you provide your fellow players with one golf shank, it’s possible that mind over matter takes a front seat to the issue. Even though this isn’t as common, you could have a set of clubs that are either too long or too short for your body. When this is mixed in with your swing it can create a terrible golf shank.

Preventative Measure and Cures

Sometimes all you need to fix the problem is to see your swing in action. If this has happened more than once, you might ask one of the other players with you to take out their cell phone and record your swing. Granted, we never recommend practicing on the course, but if you are already in a hole, you probably need a solution and fast!

When the round is over and the next time you have a chance to work on your golf shank, head to the range and practice in the grass. Here you can do something as simple as placing 2 tees next to each a couple inches apart. The inner tee should be the one your ball is on, and when you swing make sure you don’t hit the outer tee.

If you do, your swing needs to be more compact during your downswing. This little trick will be able to tell you if you’re still pushing the club out. If you can’t figure it out on your own, we recommend maybe asking a professional for 30 minutes of their time. They may watch one swing of the club and say, “Yep, I see the problem.”

Even though the golf shank is one of the most irritating issues in a person’s golf game, it’s an easy fix if you know what to do. Sometimes certain tips don’t work for an individual, which is why there are several different ones out there. So if you can find the right one, you should have no problem curing your golf shank.

The Benefits of having one in Your Home

One of the most important aspects to golf is practice. We stress this all the time, and when it comes to putting, it’s even more crucial. Do you keep track of how many putts you make in a round? Can you imagine going from 25-30 all the way down to 20 or less? This can make a huge difference, which is why every golfer should utilize indoor putting greens.

There are several different kinds you can purchase, but the main goal is to just get one. Your decision will be based on the size, the space you have in your home, and whether or not you can leave it in place or put it away when you’re done. However, once you make the right choice, there a few things you can work on to help your game.

Keep your Head Down

One of the most common issues golfers deal with is keeping their head down while putting. When you can use indoor putting greens at home, you will be able to work on this constantly. If by chance you lift your head a lot, you will notice that you don’t hit the ball with your putter in the right location. So often times your ball will move to the left or right.

Look at your Stance and Alignment

Whether you have trouble in this area or not, we still recommend practicing it on your indoor putting greens. Make sure your feet are the proper width apart, and that you line up the ball properly. If you have a plain and simple long green, we recommend putting the ball in different locations.

This is extremely important, because you won’t be having too many straight putts during your round. Having a little variety will make you look at different angles. Plus, it will make you work on this instead of lining up the same way for every putt. If the ball is moving a certain way and your alignment is right, then you will have to look at your stance.

Add Props

Don’t be afraid to turn your indoor putting greens into a putt-putt course either. Well, not literally, but adding a few challenges will make you hit the ball in a certain area. This means you have to put more emphasis on your stance, your follow-through, and keeping your head down. In the end, it will just make you a better putter.

We could go on and on about the benefits, but you get the idea. Indoor putting greens just give you a chance to work on things whenever you have spare time. Even if you have the kids, are cooking dinner, or cleaning the house, you can still find a few minutes to practice. Soon you will start noticing the difference on the course.

Is it Worth the Hassle?

By now, you’ve probably shopped around for golf clubs and realized the outrageous costs. It’s no surprise you’re here today, because thanks to the economic times we are going through, golfers are looking for ways to save money on clubs. However, the big question most people ask is, “Is it worth the hassle?” The truth is golf club making is a lot easier than you might think.

However, before you run out and purchase all the materials, it’s important to understand the importance of each category. After all, the way you make woods and metals will be different then how you construct your irons and wedges. So we’re going to give you a few tips today that will help you get started.

Grips

When it’s time to add the grips you need to find something that is extremely comfortable. For instance, if your hands are too small, they won’t really mesh will with bulky grips. Then again, if you have hands that sweat more than normal, you probably want to provide yourself with stronger grips. Outside of this, the rest is pretty much your own personal preference.

Choosing a Shaft

You will have to take the time to figure out what type of shafts to use with your golf club making. This can be a great benefit, especially if you previously wanted graphite shafts and didn’t want to spend the amount they cost in retail stores or online. It’s also important to understand all the benefits of flex either shaft choice will provide.

Understanding your Woods and Metals

The most important thing you will learn with woods and metals is your choice of club-heads won’t matter as much as the loft on it. This is a huge part of your golf club making process. Knowing what type of loft you need for your swing will allow you to have more distance and control over your ball.

Iron Play

It’s possible that you can build an immaculate set of irons, but this golf club making plan requires you to provide some padding for your swing. If your irons are too tight, you will find that your impact on the ball will be off the charts. This could end up meaning more slices or hooks, depending on where you’re hitting the ball.

While the information we provided you with today won’t give you everything you need for your golf making plans, it will help your research. You need to spend the time looking into exactly what you want, before you even start purchasing all the materials to actually make them. In the end, you want to have the golf clubs of your dreams, and customizing them yourself will definitely make it happen.

Tips you have to Use

Whenever you’re looking for chipping golf tips, it can be quite confusing. It’s one of the most difficult parts of the game to master, and there tons of so-called “secrets” that really don’t work. What you have to understand is what works for you may not work for your friend, so it’s important to find the right tips.

Today, we’re going to go over a few of them in hopes of pointing you in the right direction. If you’re having problems with your chipping golf game, try each one of them out. Whatever doesn’t work just throw it away and move on to the next. Eventually, you will come across the perfect match and start getting the ball closer to the hole (or in it).

Stop the Ball at the Pin

Often times, amateurs will take their chipping golf approach to the pin instead of in front of it. Your main goal here is to have the ball stop near the hole. If you’re aiming for the pin then you will most likely hit past it. The best thing to do is figure out your distance, and cut 33% off it. So if you’re 30 feet away, try to make the ball drop about 10 feet from the hole.

Look at your Wrists

It might be surprising to some, but many golfers understand the importance of their wrists. On a chip shot, you’re supposed to keep your left hand straight for righties and vice versa for lefties. If you don’t, the loft on the ball will be completely different from what you are expecting. This usually results in a longer putt.

Use the right Club

One thing to understand is you can’t just chip with your 9-iron or P-wedge all of the time. You probably already know there is a science to this sport, and the chipping part is no different. Each iron you use brings about certain advantages and disadvantages. Some will give you more loft, some will run and stop, so it’s extremely important to be well versed for each situation.

Get in the Practice

In the end, it’s all about practice. The more you can get out there and go through each routine, the better it will feel and work for you on the course. However, you have to make sure you practicing the right chipping golf techniques. If you end up doing something wrong, it’s possible that you will end up regressing as a result.

Try a few of these and see what happens. If you aren’t progressing, it might be time to ask a professional for help.

Today a video of one of the best shots I’ve ever seen !!

How to build character in your putt

You know, when we go golfing, the most important number to keep track of is your putts. It’s been a debate that has gone on for years as to whether or not it’s the real problem. Well, we’re here to tell you it is, and it can make a huge difference in your overall score, which why putting drills are important.

See, you can zigzag down the fairway all you want, but once you get it on the green, your putts can save you all day long. So if you think your golf game is horrid, or you just want to better your score, we recommend working on a few putting drills.

Starting with your Alignment

Do you tend to push the ball to the right of the hole? How about the left? If you’re noticing this more often then not, you have some serious alignment issues. This is an easy fix though, and all you need is a couple other clubs. Place 2 clubs parallel to each other and about 6 inches apart.

Then try to hit the ball in between them. During the process, if the ball goes to either side repeatedly, then you should adjust your stance. Look at the positioning of your feet. Are they too far apart? Is the front foot not parallel to the back? Is your take back and follow through the reason? Look at all angles here because it can save you several strokes off your game.

Putting Blind

Okay, we definitely don’t recommend this during your time on the course, but when around the practice green take it for a spin. These sorts of putting drills allow you to get a true “feel” of the green and your stroke. It also allows you to have a complete focus on the ball as you make your follow-through.

One of the biggest problems is pulling your head and looking at the hole before you strike the ball. If you close both your eyes it will keep you from ever pulling your head, because you won’t be worried where the ball is going. Instead you just want to make sure you hit it properly. It’s definitely one of the best putting drills out there.

In the end, there are several different types of putting drills available. However, both of these will allow you to line up correctly and keep all your motions compact. When it’s all said and done you should have no problem shedding a few strokes off your game. Once you’re able to master these parts, then it will be time to focus on your backswing and follow-through. Heck it’s possible that with a small adjustment to your grip, you could wind up having several 1 and 2-putt holes.

Golf Instruction Book-What to look for before buying

golf instruction book

Sometimes when you go out searching for a golf instruction book, it’s very easy to get sucked in by the hype. Unfortunately, things may sound great until you actually see everything in it. Most of the time people waste their money with these, the biggest reason is the right tips, tricks, and techniques are in someone else’s book. Hopefully, we’ll change all that for you today.

Find your Weaknesses

One thing to understand about a golf instruction book is each piece of your swing flows with the other. The truth is it’s hard to find your exact weakness outside of what happens to the ball off the tee. If you find a golf instruction book that only talks about “How to fix a slice, hook, chili-dipper, 3-putts,” or anything else, you might want to look elsewhere.

Why?

Well, just because they have one answer, doesn’t mean it’s your solution. In fact, you’ve probably already listened to a friend tell you what needs to be done. Did things end up worse? If you’re here, we imagine they did, but what works for him or her may not work for you. It’s important to find special information that pertains to your particular swing.

Examples

For instance, the obvious would be if you’re a left-handed golfer, you would get a specified golf instruction book about lefties. If you already know that the way you address the ball is wrong or uncomfortable, then get one of these books that is designed to heavily work in that area. It doesn’t matter if it’s shifting weight, keeping your form throughout, the golf swing tempo, impact, or anything else, there is a golf instruction book out there for you.

Expensive isn’t always Best

Another important factor that is usually overlooked is expense to informative ratio. Golfers tend to believe that the more you pay for something the better it will be (not all golfers, but many). When it comes to a golf instruction book this is hardly the case. Some individuals just like you have written books like these to help other golfers.

The Top 5 Areas

While the information will vary from individual to individual, we do recommend looking for a golf instruction book that has certain characteristics. The first thing to do is find one that lets you figure out your problem. Seriously, if you come across one that says, “If you’re slicing, then this needs to be fixed,” pass on it.

In the end, the other four areas revolve around your stance, backswing, downswing, and follow-through. Granted, the golf instruction book you find may have more information; we just recommend it at least have those 5 things. If so then you will be able to tailor your swing a lot easier.

Do They mean anything ?

While professional players love to talk about golf club ratings, casual players aren’t very up to date with what they do. In fact, most of the individuals we talk have no idea what they are for outside of telling everyone who has the best clubs on the market. So today, we’re going to explain what golf club ratings are for, and how your game can benefit from them.

What are Golf Club Ratings?

Before you can benefit from golf club ratings, you have to understand what they are and why they can help. The easiest way to explain these ratings are they give you an inside look at how well they will help you score while on the course. There are golf club ratings for drivers, irons, putters, wedges, woods, club-heads, and various other parts of the game.

There will be reviews all over the internet and television explaining why a certain brand is the best. However, many of these are misconceptions because even though they may be top-notch equipment, they may not be your best choice. So before you go out and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on new clubs, definitely think about your choices.

The Beginner Approach

If you’re new to the game, or just new to purchasing sets, golf club ratings are a huge benefit. Granted you will have to do a little research, but taking the time to find the best deals will be well worth it. Often times you will be able to check the ratings, and then realize there is a great deal on a set of clubs based on your own criteria.

Keep in mind, if you are just learning the sport, a beginner’s set will be enough to get you started. It takes away all the stress of trying to figure out a perfect length, metal woods, lofts, graphite shafts, what grips you need, and everything else that comes along.

For the Avid Golfer

When you play all the time, and visit the same courses, you come to realize that your game is stagnating. Your scores aren’t getting any better, yet there is nothing wrong with your golf swing. In order to move up to the next level you will need these golf club ratings.

It will allow you to focus on the meticulous parts of the game that are overlooked by the casual golfer. Whether it’s ball velocity, speed percentages, or scientific formulas of certain club-faces, golf club ratings will be able to explain it all. If you find yourself in the more serious parts to the game, you will definitely need to use them.

So the next time you’re ready get a new driver, putter, or even a full set of clubs, take a look at the golf club ratings. Even though each review may not be for you, hopefully, you will be able to find a club or set that will take your game to the next level.

How it can Change Your Game

golf swing analysis

When golfers head to the driving range, one of the things they are supposed to work on is having a golf swing analysis. Without it, you can’t properly fix any of the issues you deal with on the course. Plus it’s a big no-no to try and fix your swing during a match. So today we’re going to go over a few ways to build a good golf swing analysis. After all, you want to get it right the first time right?

Building Your Own

If you don’t have the financial budget to put a little extra towards a trainer or coach, you can still create a golf swing analysis on your own. Just by hitting a few balls and noticing the flight of the ball will give you a clear sign of the issues you may be dealing with regarding your swing.

It doesn’t matter if you’re having issues with your backswing, downswing, or impact, there will be a sign for everything. However, building the perfect golf swing analysis is going to take a lot of buckets of golf balls. Eventually you will see and feel what you need to change in order to get the results you’ve been missing out on the course.

Create a Video

Since we’ve come across all different kinds of technology today, it’s safe to say you probably have something you can use to make a video. Whether it’s a digital camera, your cell phone, or even that PSP you bought for your child, they are all serious choices. Being able to watch yourself will help you find the proper golf swing analysis.

Practice, Practice, and more Practice

Remember, the more you practice the easier it will be to get the best golf swing analysis. We could recommend that you at least hit 2 buckets of balls each time out, but we understand you may not have the time. If not, the things you learn from your analysis at the range can be practiced at home.

If you have a long mirror, watch your swing in it. See if you’re able to keep the same tempo, form, and shift in weight everytime. Just by taking a few extra minutes at home to do this can make all the difference when it’s time to play. What it comes down to is if you practice, practice, practice, you will find that everything will start to come around.

So take the time to build your own golf swing analysis. If by chance things don’t seem to be working out the way you had originally hoped, maybe you need a little help. Even though it will cost a little money, you would be surprised at what someone else can catch that you might have missed. However, don’t ask a friend, unless he or she is a professional. If they aren’t, you could wind up making things worse.

Golf Swing Plane-Trying to Find the Solution to the Problem

golf swing planeThe golf swing plane is one of the most important aspects of your golf game. It doesn’t matter if you’re an amateur just trying to reach the 19th hole under 100, or an avid golfer trying to lower your handicap. It allows you to be more accurate, accumulate more distance, and eventually shave strokes off your game.

Today we wanted to cover a couple ways you can build a golf swing plane that is perfect for you. It’s no secret that each one is different due to height, size, and various other attributes, but there are many similarities. Understanding all of it will give you a better approach to your game. Plus you will enjoy much better scores.

The 3 Sections To Perfect For A Proper Golf Swing Plane

It’s important to understand that the swing plane is made up of three different sections; the backswing, the downswing, and the follow-through. If two of them are perfect, but the other is off-kilter, your entire swing can be thrown for a loop. While each one needs to be perfected, there also has to be a good golf swing tempo at the same time.

  • Having the Right Swing Plane First

While we will tell you that it’s important to practice this over and over again, you don’t want to create bad habits. If you are doing something wrong and then going to range, chances are you’re practicing the wrong methods. So make sure you take the time to learn whether or not your swing is the right one for your game.

We recommend recording your swing, doing it in front of the mirror, or having a personal trainer critique it for you. If you do have a coach, let him or her in on what you are trying to accomplish. Chances are they can make things a lot easier for you. If you don’t, try to keep track of issues you have each time you’re practicing. This can help you find the answer.

  • On course adjustements

If your golf swing plane is off, you probably don’t want to make on course adjustments. More times than not you will be left even more frustrated, and wonder what the heck is going on. The best thing to do is compensate for the rest of the round as best you can. Be sure to analyze whether or not your balls are falling short, you’re not hitting the greens, or anything else that comes to mind.

  • Don’t Forget your Stance

You will find that one of the best places to look is your stance. Even if you have had the same one for years, it’s possible that something else has made you address the ball differently. Maybe it’s an injury, a growth issue, or your weight has fluctuated. While most people believe this isn’t a big deal, it can make all the difference in your golf swing plane.

In the end you just need to evaluate everything. However, it’s important to take it one section at a time. Maybe your golf swing plane isn’t working because your elbow doesn’t stay tucked. Then again, maybe your weight shifting is leaving you unbalanced in your downswing and follow-through. Whatever the case may be you have the opportunity to fix it. When you do, your golf swing plane will change your game for the better.

Knowing your Options and Improving your Game

golf club grips

It’s hard to believe that something like golf club grips can shave 10 strokes off your game, but they can. There are many reasons why you want to have the right ones, and at the same time feel comfortable while gripping your club. While there isn’t much to golf club grips, we thought we would give you an inside look at how to figure out when and why it’s time to get new ones.

Understanding Dull Grips

If you have an older set of clubs, or you haven’t ever changed them, they’ve probably become dull. Maybe the padding has torn, the grip feels smoother, or it almost feels like there isn’t anything there. Whatever the case may be, this can play a huge part on your golf game. We want you to take a few moments to think about this whole-heartedly.

Your called to the and your first shot heads straight for the trees on the right hand side. No worries, it’s your first swing and you can make it up here. Unfortunately, your second shot goes left. So you stand there and go over your stance, how you address the ball, and possibly even your golf swing tempo wondering if they are the issue. Everything looks okay right?

Well, the truth is it’s because you don’t have a proper grip on your club. Since we’re taught not to strangle the club with our personal grip, the club tends to shift out of alignment when we reach the top of our backswing. This is also true when the follow-through is reached, and the end result is less control. When you get a new set of golf club grips you won’t have to worry about this at all.

Size is Important

Yes, this is extremely crucial to your personal grip and your overall game. If your grip isn’t big enough, you may tend to over-grip your club. Then again, if your golf club grips are too big, you won’t be able to bring your left hand around the right way. This can detrimental to any swing, which is why you need to find a size that is comfortable, and gives you the proper feel to your clubs.

Customization

We always recommend customizing every part of your club if you can. Even though it’s a little extra, being able to have everything perfect will allow you to show off all your talents on the course. If by chance you’re left with an alternative measure, chances are you will be altering your swing, your approach, your stance, and everything else involved.

So take the time to get the best golf club grips for you. Even though others may suggest a big named brand, or a particular set with special gripping potency, they might not be right for your hands or your golf swing. In the end, your golf game revolves around all the tedious things that make a swing great. The better your golf club grips are, the better the rest of your game will be.

Golf Swing Drills-A Few Tips to Help your Game

golf lessons

One of the most important things a golfer can do is have the right golf swing drills. While practicing is crucial to getting better and finding your swing, you have to do each drill the right way. Plus you have to understand exactly what is going on with your swing, so you can utilize the appropriate drills. So think about whether you are having issues with your backswing, downswing, follow-through, stance, or anything else.

Let Your Clubs Help

Whether or not you are having problems shuffling your feet during your swing, you can at least make sure. These golf swing drills revolve around grabbing two of your irons and placing on in front of your left foot and one behind or your right foot (vice versa for lefties). These shouldn’t move, and if they do then you are moving your feet improperly.

Shirt Biting

Most golfers overlook this little trick, but it can very helpful. Often time’s golfers have a hard time keeping their head down and end up pulling it too early. Whether it’s putting or using the clubs, if you bite your shirt its one of the best golf swing drills out there. Sure it sounds like something you would tell a youngster, but sometimes you just need to go back to the basics.

Two Sports in One

If you like the off the wall golf swing drills here is another interesting one. There are times when a golfer has issues with the setup and shifting weight. Even though most people use this to have the proper width between their feet, you can also use it to help the proper shift in weight. However, it can be embarrassing at the range, so you may want to do this at home.

Cure the Slice

Yes, those who are constantly irritated by the slice can bring a prop to the driving range as well. We don’t care if it’s a 4 x 4 block, a shoe box, Tupperware or anything else. Your main objective will be to place it on the right side of the ball, and about an inch away. Obviously you don’t want to hit the prop. It makes you keep your club-face closed, and allow for straighter hits.

One thing to understand is that no matter which one of these golf swing drills you try, there will be a few obstacles along the way. Just remember that this is part of the learning process and it will take many bad results to get the positive ones you’re looking for in your swing.

The good news is, these golf swing drills work. We understand there a little outside of the box, but sometimes that is what you need in order to be successful.

Golf Swing Path-How to Figure Out the Issues

Golf Swing path

If you are unaware of what a golf swing path is, it’s simply the route your club travels before eventually hitting through the ball. While everyone has a different golf swing path, on an individual note you should have the same one throughout each swing. If you don’t, your ball could reach every part of the course and leave you as irritated as can be.

The Backswing

Your first part of the golf swing path is having the proper backswing. To be honest, we can’t give you a specific backswing to use because it may not be your best option. Instead, we can tell you that you do need to have one that is fluent and doesn’t require thought. Your backswing should become second nature and if it isn’t, then you know it is part of the problem.

A couple things to look at while dealing with this area is your shift in weight, your elbow, and your chin tuck. Each particular area or just one of them may be causing your golf swing path to be all out of whack. So whatever you’ve been taught about each one to this point should be looked at thoroughly.

Check to this if your ball is going left, right, it’s too short, or anything else. Any of these could be a sign on how to properly adjust one particular area. For instance if you are continually pushing the ball to the left, your elbow probably isn’t staying tucked into place. If your ball has no control whatsoever, the shift in weight is probably a huge issue.

The Downswing

Again, this area of your golf swing path revolves around shifting your weight, the pause at the top of your swing right before, and your elbow. There are other variables as well, but we want to keep focusing on these three today. However, that pause which everyone talks about can be just as bad.

What do you think about when you’re in your pause? Hopefully nothing, but when you’re practicing we recommend completely stopping there. Look to see how your body is aligned before the downswing. Does anything look different? Utilizing this little tip can give you an inside look at something you may have missed before.

In fact, we recommend going through your golf swing path in slow motion. Except when you do this, make sure it’s the right way. Don’t be afraid to even knock the ball off the mat or tee in the process. The next time around, speed up your tempo a bit.

Are you able to keep the same form? Then try to make a normal swing and see if your form is the same. Not only will this allow you to find the problem, it will also help you make the right adjustment for your golf swing path.

Don’t Overlook the Obvious

golf stretches

It’s safe to say that there are a ton of injuries that occur in golf. Whether an individual ends up with back problems, pulls a muscle during the golf swing or anything else, it’s usually because they didn’t do any golf stretches before playing. Oh, and if you think simply placing a club between your arms and behind your back is enough, think again.

Just like any other sport, the better you warm up your muscles with golf stretches, the easier it will be to make each hit. In fact, the next time you go out and don’t stretch, keep track of any discomforts you feel throughout your round. When you go out again, stretch before you play and you will definitely notice the difference. In the meantime, we’re going to give you a few options to help you get started.

Bend-overs

Since the back is one of the most common injury areas amongst golfers, it’s wise to do some bend-overs. It’s as easy as spreading your legs a bit and trying to touch the ground. Granted, most of us can’t even come close to touching it, but you will still be able to stretch those muscles.

Push-Lifts

Another way to work on the back is by lying on your stomach and just pushing up the front half of your body. You will notice pressure on the lower back area. If you can utilize both of these golf stretches you can loosen up your back for those twists and turns throughout the round. Plus, afterwards the area won’t be as sore.

Knee Tucks

Your hamstrings are going to be utilized a lot throughout a round, so it’s important to stretch those out. While walking the course will help, doing a few knee tucks will allow them to stretch a bit more. While you’re standing, just try to bring your knee as high up as you can, then hold the position.

When you bring it back down, don’t forget to do the other one. Taking the time to do this will allow you more balance throughout your swings, and allow you to shift your weight accordingly. These golf stretches will be a major piece to your overall score.

Neck Pulls

Most people forget about how important it is to stretch the neck. So we thought we would add it in here today. Just stand tall and take your right hand and pull your head as far to the right as you can. Hold the position for anywhere from 10-15 seconds, then release. You should do this in all directions (North, South, East, and West).

You will find that your golf swing doesn’t feel nearly as uncomfortable, especially in your backswing. Plus, if you provide golf stretches in each direction, this will protrude down into your backbone and shoulder area. It’s one of the most overlooked golf stretches out there, but it makes a huge difference.

There are many other golf stretches to choose from, but these are a big part to different aspects of the game. Our recommendation is to do them before you even drive to the course. Loosening up before getting into the car will make you feel a lot better getting out. Plus, while you’re at the course you can use some of the normal golf stretches everyone else does…without the embarrassment.
